Blurb Policies

I’m always happy to blurb the books of other authors, especially debut indies! If you’d like to request a blurb, please email me at ian@cometkins.com. I have a few things I require before I will consider a blurb, and a few things I won’t blurb at all. Please take these into consideration when sending a request.

When requesting a blurb, please include: your name, the title, genre(s), age category, story blurb, content warnings, as well as a deadline for when you’d like to receive a blurb for your book. If you have comp titles they’re appreciated, but not required. This helps me make a better decision about if I’ll be a good fit or be able to complete the request in time.

I am not a good fit for, and will not read: Middle Grade books, Young Adult books, nonfiction, essay collections, poetry collections, Contemporary Romance/RomComs, Sci-Fi, Extreme Horror, Splatterpunk, omegaverse, mpreg or trans pregnancy, “Isekai” by non-Japanese authors, “Danmei” by non-Chinese authors, or ocean/water-related Horror.

With the right premise, I can be convinced of: Urban Fantasy, and cishet M/F Romance in fantasy, historical, or gothic genres. (Examples of books in these specific genres I love: Under the Dragon Moon by Mawce Hanlin, Paladin’s Grace by T Kingfisher, Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater, and The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas).

Things I’ll probably read in a heartbeat: Anything queer, Dark Romance in non-contemporary settings, Historical Fiction across subgenres, Arthuriana, queer and/or non-white Westerns, Horror and Gothic Romance, Fantasy Romance, Angels, Vampires, Monsterfucking, boys being evil to each other, sad paladins, things that read like a D&D campaign, and more. If you think it’s related in some way to any of these things and it’s not a hard “no”, send it my way.

Some of my favorite books include: Angels Before Man by rafael nicolás, Providence Girls by Morgan Dante, A Bone In His Teeth by Kellen Graves, The Fall That Saved Us by Tamara Jerée, and The Flowered Blade by Taylor Hubbard.
